The story

Riesling comes from the Rhine valley, a child of Gouais blanc and a Traminer line. In Poland it is the leading vinifera variety, grown in Lower Silesia, on the Kraków Jura and in West Pomerania. South-west of Wrocław, on the granite of the Sudeten foothills, it holds its acidity.

In the glass it is lean and precise: lime, green apple, something stony. With age it can take on the petrol note the grape is known for. Further down the road it has other names: Ryzlink rýnský in Czechia, Rajnai rizling in Hungary, Renski rizling in Slovenia.
