The story
Grüner Veltliner is probably indigenous to Austria, a cross of Savagnin and St. Georgener-Rebe. It covers 32% of the Austrian vineyard, and it is a signature grape of Czechia and Slovakia too, as Veltlínské zelené and Veltlínske zelené. In Hungary it is Zöldveltelini.
The classic signature is white pepper over green apple, lime and green bean, with fresh acidity and a medium body. It is made light and young or riper and fuller, depending on the site and the grower.
